the story

The ceremony took place on a private pier at sunrise — a deliberate choice to make the most of Sydney Harbour light before the city woke. The photographer worked with one assistant and no flash, relying on the soft blush of early morning. The reception's late evening light over the Opera House provided a dramatic counterpoint, and the gallery is structured as a journey from dawn to midnight.

"She caught Callum's face the moment he saw me at the end of that pier — I will never need anything else."

— Hiromi & Callum

A sunrise ceremony meant a 3am wake call and a very short window before the harbour filled with commuter ferries and morning glare. I have learned to love that kind of constraint — it eliminates every option but the right one. The image of Callum watching Hiromi walk toward him across that pier, in that light, required nothing from me except being there.

It was such a privilege to capture their special day.
